New TiPO: WorldSkills standards

congratulations on your victory Along with the renewal of the entire education system in Kazakhstan, new trends have emerged in the VET system. Among them is the introduction of the standards of the international movement WorldSkills International into the educational process, which focuses on the formation of world standards of professional skills in working professions.

Our country joined this movement back in 2014. Kazakhstan annually hosts the National Competition of Professional Skills WorldSkills Kazakhstan, which aims to create the country’s human resources potential for the development of its own high-tech industries, to ensure high «liquidity» of young professionals with a Kazakh education.

Against the background of the transition to remote forms of work, we increasingly feel the growing importance, and therefore the need in the labor market for IT professionals. The moment has come when educational organizations need to produce not just «IT specialists», but specialists who can meet the requirements of world standards.

Acutely aware of the dynamics of the situation, the Pavlodar Higher College of Management forms new ideas about the training of specialists in the information and communication industry.

For the first time for our region in 2020, training in a new specialty «Additive manufacturing technologies»was opened on the basis of the college. The unique technology of manufacturing products is already working in machine and aircraft construction, construction, medicine, space and even in everyday life. The day is not far off when the pioneers-graduates of this specialty will become irreplaceable people at the production enterprises of the region.

Strengthening its leadership position, Pavlodar Higher College of Management
strives to actively support the WorldSkills movement. Within the framework of the WorldSkills Pavlodar 2020 professional skills competition, nineteen college students presented their skills in 8 areas (competencies) from October 19 to 30.

The College was the organizer and the base for a number of new competencies for our region: IT solutions for business, the Internet of Things, Management of unmanned aerial vehicles, Development of computer games and multimedia applications. This means that the team of the Pavlodar region will become a participant of the national competition of professional skills for the first time WorldSkills Kazakhstan on these competencies.

According to the contest rules, the tasks are selected in such a way as to «be difficult even for professionals» — so the participants performed piloting a drone in difficult conditions in virtual glasses, created automatically controlled garage doors and developed computer games in the «Platformer» genre.

It is also indicative of the fact that the competence «Development of computer games and multimedia applications» is actively promoted in neighboring countries, and until today it has remained without attention in Kazakhstan. The competition in this competence was a debut not only for students of the Pavlodar Higher College of Management, but also for the country, and therefore has every chance to become a new direction of development of the Kazakhstan WorldSkills movement.

Serious battles for prizes broke out between the contest participants in the competencies Mobile robotics (based on the Higher College of Electronics and Communications), Graphic Design, WEB Design and Development (based on the College of Information Technology).

Thanks to the professional skills of expert teachers The Pavlodar Higher College of Management — Smirnov E. A., Stadnik P. S., Yazenko L. G.-and systematic in-depth preparatory work, the college team became the best in the region in the WorldSkills Pavlodar 2020 medal standings, winning 8 gold medals, one silver award and 5 medallions of professional skill.
